Dead Internet
The internet feels very dead to me. There is the Dead Internet Theory, where it is theorized that the internet is just filled with bots and AI generated content. I have so few social media accounts and it is all ads. Most post are either ads for businesses or post about people’s side hustle. There are very few organic online places.
I think that the internet, now, is the same as local free newspapers. People pay money to advertise in small free papers that are distributed by 7-11s and other gas station stores. The difference is that we have unregulated content for our digital free paper than we would in a Penny Saver.
Because the internet no longer feels alive to me, I have not invested much time into creating content. I don’t know the point anymore. I don’t know if people want genuine content when they can get “free” content that is curated by search filter bubbles.
I think AI and the internet is our mirror. It is a reflection of our ego. And I think we are following our own reflections and claiming it has power over us.
